Responses to climate change...Lets save the world!
Check this video clip out as a starter to understand how we can repond to climate change
Gobally, nationally and locally, the responses to to climate change have involved trying to cut emisions of greenhouse gasses such as Co2.
The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement proposing binding targets for the reduction of greenhouse gasses. The treaty was signed by most countries in the world during 1998 and took place in Kyoto, Japan.
* Each of the cuntries that signed up were set targets to reduce carbon emissions.
* not all countries signed up to the agreement. The USA didn't sign up and they are the highest producers of Co2 in the world!
* There is something called the caron credit scheme. Under this scheme any country that achieves under their target recieves carbon credits which they can then sell to countries that are not meeting their targets.
*Credits are also given to countries that help poorer nations thus helping the poorer countries reduce their emissions quicker.
National Responses
Governments can improve public transport networks such as trains and buses by making them run faster and go to more places. This would encourage more people to use them
instead of cars reducing C02.

Local Responses
Places such as London have started to charge people money for driving their cars into the city during busy periods. This encougrages people to use their cars less.
Local authorities can recycle more waste by building more recycling plants and giving people more recycling bins to get rid of their waste.
We can all help conserve energy by doing things like switching off light switches and not leaving electrical items on standby.
